Cambridge Systematics provides strategic planning and management services, objective analysis and technology applications for passenger, commercial, freight and transit systems in the public and private sectors, nationally and internationally.

Company History

The company was founded on September 27, 1972, by four Massachusetts Institute of Technology professors and a collaborator in Cambridge, Massachusetts , under the charter of “Application of the Systematic Analysis to Problems of Transportation, Environment, Urban Development and Regional Planning”.

Cambridge Systematics grew rapidly in its first few years and opened a second office in Berkeley, California in September 1976, moving to its current location in Oakland, California in 1994.

To meet the growing needs of the market and customers, Cambridge Systematics opened additional offices in Washington, DC between 1991 and 2010; Chicago , Illinois; Tallahassee, Florida ; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; New York, New York; Atlanta , Georgia; Austin, Texas ; Denver , Colorado; Los Angeles, California; and Raleigh, North Carolina . Several Cambridge Systematics staff members provide on-site customer support at the offices of the Federal Highway Administration and the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center).
