What is CHSL?

SSC CHSL is a national level exam. Which is conducted by SSC. SSC conducts various types of exams for recruitment in government jobs in a year, one of them is CHSL exam. This exam can be given after Higher Secondary i.e. twelfth.

The candidates who clear the SSC CHSL exam are recruited for the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Postal Assistant. CHSL is called Combined Higher Secondary Level. Whereas SSC is called Staff Selection Commission.

Eligibility Criteria and Age Limit of CHSL

Eligibility – For SSC CHSL exam, you must have passed 12th class, because only after that you can give CHSL exam. Apart from this, some vacancies come out in which only students with PCB stream are eligible. 

Age Limit – Apart from this, the age limit of SSC CHSL exam is 18 – 27 years. Age relaxation is given to reserved category. For example, there is an age relaxation of 3 years for the OBC category and 5 years for the SC/ST candidates. Apart from this, physically handicapped (PH) students get 10 years relaxation in age limit. 

So to appear in the SSC CHSL exam, you must have passed 12th from a recognized board and college. Along with this, it is very important for the candidate to be a citizen of India.   

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern

SSC CHSL exam is conducted in three phases – Tier – 1, Tier-2, Tier-3 in which in Tier – 1 you have to give Objective questions, while Tier – 2 is Descriptive in English / Hindi and Tier – 3 Computer Skill Test. .

This exam is conducted in online mode. Questions from 4 subjects are asked in the exam. Which includes questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Mathematics (Quantitative Aptitude), English Comprehension.

There are 25 questions in each category and 2 marks are allotted for each question. That is, in total there is a question paper of 200 marks. The time duration of the same exam is 1 hour i.e. in this one hour you have to solve 100 questions. Along with this, there is also negative marking in SSC CHSL exam i.e. 0.5 mark is deducted for every wrong answer.

SSC CHSL Tier- II Syllabus

By the way, Tier-1 exam is the most important and difficult one, as it consists of all types of questions written and oral. In SSC CHSL Tier-II after qualifying the same Tier-1, candidates have to write essay and letter/application. Through which writing skills are tested.

The topics of essay appearing in the exam are from national interest, finance and economy, ecological issues, politics, social issues, planning and governance, sports, technology, geopolitics, environmental concerns. Apart from this, candidates have to write complaint letter, suggestion letter, official letter in the form of a letter.

SSC CHSL Tier- III Syllabus 

Candidates qualified in SSC CHSL Tier-II are sent for Tier-3. Where candidates have to give a skill/typing test. Its numbers are not counted in the merit. This exam is only for skill test.

SSC CHSL Posts & Salary

Data Entry Operator:

Salary – The initial salary of the post you get after clearing SSC CHSL exam is around 18,000 to 32,000. Along with this, your HRA + DA is also deducted from the salary. Salary is determined on the basis of your post, which post you have got. He also gets promotion in this job. That is, there are chances of increasing both your position and salary. The salary based on the post is as follows:-

– Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) – Rs 19,900 – 63,200

– Postal Assistant (PA)/ Sorting Assistant (SA) – Rs 25,500 – 81,100

– Data Entry Operater – Rs. 25,500 – 81,100

– Data Entry Operater Grade A – Rs. 25,500 – 81,100
