History
In February 1940, the Delta Employees Credit Union was formed in Atlanta, Georgia by eight Delta Air Lines employees, each with $45 in share capital. On March 8, 1940, Delta Employees Credit Union received a charter giving it the right to operate for 20 years. A month later, the first board of directors was created. The board voted that membership is open to all employees of Delta. By the end of the 1940s the estate was about $2,000.

On March 8, 1990, the Delta Employees Credit Union celebrated its 50th anniversary.
In July 1994, the credit union implemented a “once a member, always a member” policy, thus eliminating the stipulation that a person must be an active Delta employee to become a member. Membership was also extended to parents of active and former Delta employees in good standing. [10] The total number of members of the Delta Employee Credit Union exceeded the 100,000 mark in 1995. Membership privileges were granted to the members’ children, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their spouses. In 2001, the members’ domestic partners were added. In October 2005, Delta Employees Credit Union changed its name to Delta Community Credit Unions to describe they were open to the Metro Atlanta community, not just Delta Air Line employees.
