Respected Principal Sir, Sir, Madam, my senior and dear classmates, Good morning to all of you. Today is Christmas, which we celebrate every year with joy by organizing a cultural function. This day is celebrated as the annual Christmas Day all over the world, especially by the people of the Christian community. This day is very important for Christians as they celebrate it as the birthday of Lord Jesus Christ (Jesus Christ).
It is believed that 25th December is celebrated all over the world as a religious and cultural festival. Christmas Day has been declared as a public holiday by the governments of many countries around the world. It is celebrated as a cultural festival by the non-Christian people in India and other countries also by proper decoration and arrangement. The celebrations of this festival are one of the integral parts of the annual holidays.
The tradition of celebrating this festival mixes the theme of Christian, pre-Christian, secularism of origin in different countries. There are some important traditions of celebration of this holiday such as; Gift distribution by Santa Claus, distribution of Christmas cards, Christmas music, singing Christmas songs, lighting candles, serving in the church, organizing special meals, special Christmas lights etc. Many well-known people like; Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas, the Christmas Father, and Christ-kind, etc., bring presents for young children on Christmas night. This festival holds special significance for retailers and traders.
Children are very happy on this day as they get gifts from their parents and Santa Claus at 12 o’clock in the night. They also wear Santa’s cap and Santa’s clothes to celebrate this day in school. Christmas is called the “Feast of Jesus Christ”. It is celebrated as a Christian holiday as well as the birthday of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is considered the son of God by the people of Christianity. It is also considered and celebrated by non-Christians as a cultural holiday in the month of December. It is a great festival of winter season. Everyone eagerly waits for Christmas to come. It is celebrated every year on 25th December, with heavy preparations and decorations, Christmas tree decorations, Christmas cards, Santa Claus, gifts, etc.
December 25 is the most important day of the year for Christians. They also celebrate Easter to remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. People start preparations for Christmas 4 weeks before Christmas, also known as the Great Man’s Arrival (Avatar). The entire Christmas season is known as Christmastide, which ends on 6th January i.e. the 12th day of Christmas, during which the announcements made are remembered by the people.
This festival is celebrated all over the world as a religious holiday, by Christians and non-Christians. The tradition and customs of celebrating it are slightly different in different countries. We all have gathered here to celebrate the Christmas festival, on this occasion I want to say a few words on Christmas Day. Christmas is celebrated every year on 25 December by Christians and non-Christians in many countries around the world. In some countries, this day has also been declared as a public holiday. This day is celebrated as the birthday of Jesus Christ, who was born on 25 December. It is a religious and traditional festival of Christians. In India, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm, and joy, by about 250 million Christians.
Mumbai has the largest Christian denomination, mainly Roman Catholicism. In other states of the country, there is a high population of Christians, which makes this festival the pride of India during the winter season. On this festival, crowds gather at midnight, especially among Catholics, with the whole family to become part of the crowd and enjoy a mass feast, which includes a variety of delicious dishes. They give gifts to each other on this day. Shortly before this day, they begin to decorate churches with small yellow flowers (ponesthios) and candles, especially for the midnight mass feast the night before Christmas.
People start wishing each other a Merry Christmas a few days before the celebration. They wish Merry Christmas; Wishes of Christmas (Happy Christmas), Merry Christmas, Happy Christmas, Happy Christmas etc. are given through the distribution of Christmas cards or gifts. Decorating a Christmas tree in the home or garden is a special tradition of celebrating Christmas. People also decorate their homes and churches with candles and electric bulbs.
Christians of South India put oil in some earthen lamps and light them on the roofs, which is a symbol of the fact that Jesus Christ will illuminate the whole world. They sing a special song, also known as a congregational song, and carry out other practices in the church. In some places, in fact, to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, it is customary to cut a Christmas cake containing fruit. Santa brings many attractive presents at midnight and distributes them among the children.

This whole festival of Christmas is not less than any celebration for the children, on this day they go with their parents to buy Christmas tree, sweets and gifts. This is the time when his family members take him for a walk and show a movie. Along with this, they also get many gifts of their choice on this day.
