Long and Short Speech on Disaster Management
Speech on Disaster Management 1
Respected Principal, Teachers and Dear Students!
Today is the International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction and we have gathered here to discuss disaster management. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to host this event and share some important points about disaster management.
Disaster can be of any type, either man-made or natural. Due to global warming and various changes in the environment, natural calamities like tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods etc. have become common across the world. However, disaster management is a branch of study that helps people in disaster management. It is important that each of us apply some common sense in the event of a disaster. Disaster Management gives confidence to the people and strengthens the society at the time of disaster. Disaster can be natural or man-made. Disaster Management is a right which is ideally developed to help the society and the community. It helps people to know the whole process of man-made or natural disasters, the process of dealing with such disasters and their consequences.
It is mostly seen that children and women are more vulnerable to disasters and so today I am sharing the importance of disaster management through my speech:
The disaster management team can help to avoid any disaster before it happens. That team can inspect the possible causes of the disaster and take appropriate steps to prevent or avoid the disaster. For example, natural disasters such as forest fires or man-made disasters such as terrorist attacks can be avoided by effective planning and preventive action.
It is very important that people do not get scared and do not act wisely in the event of any disaster. Appropriate preventive measures should be taken by everyone and wise steps should be taken to give children emotional support for their parents. Disaster management personnel are trained to carry out rescue operations efficiently. Trained professionals can successfully rescue people during building collapses, floods or major fires, etc.
Apart from all this it is also important that citizens cooperate with the disaster management team and control their emotions. Many a times people feel neglected by the authority and give opposite reaction to the disaster management team. However, the team helps in providing relief measures to the victims. They arrange food, medicines, relief camps, clothes and other essential items. If they get cooperation from the people then it will boost their morale as they can work unhindered in such situations.
The disaster management team works closely with the local authority and carries out the rehabilitation process in the affected areas. Building houses, schools and other infrastructure are some examples of rehabilitation processes.
It is also important to remember that disaster management teams are equally affected by disaster with the only difference being that they are trained to provide assistance to us. So it is our responsibility to show patience and appreciate their work. A disaster management team can help reduce stress and trauma before and after any type of disaster. If a disaster situation occurs, such as a flood and an earthquake, the team can properly instruct people to handle the accident. Even after an accident the team can provide physical support and financial support which automatically helps people to overcome the traumatic effects.
I hope it was an informative speech for you and in the end I just want to say that always use your common sense and don’t panic because haste leads to loss of anything.
Speech on Disaster Management 2
First of all I would like to thank you all for making this event a success. Our non-government organization provides support and rehabilitation services during any natural calamity or calamity. We have organized this program because we feel the need to prepare each and every person to fight the disaster which is commonly called as disaster management.
Disaster is a widespread phenomenon affecting human society today. Disasters are either man-made (such as terrorism) or natural. People have experienced this for many years. Although the nature of natural disaster keeps on changing but irrespective of caste, creed, culture, country etc., it has been a great challenge for the society. According to the latest world disaster reports, the number of disasters is increasing with great frequency and intensity.
People are becoming accustomed to all kinds of disasters like forest fires, earthquakes, droughts, floods, accidents, cyclones, landslides, plane accidents. With the advancement of technology, the impact of disasters has also changed. When a disaster strikes, it is a time of great examination for the people and only then the reality of the preparations made by man in this direction is known. This is true in the case of developed and developing countries. Floods, tsunamis, hurricanes, cyclones etc. have so far destroyed many lives across the world.
Disaster management is important to deal with the hazards that occur during, before and after a disaster. Disaster management is like taking medicine to cure a disease. Disasters can also be epidemic diseases or industrial failures like Bhopal gas tragedy or Fukushima nuclear power plant trouble etc. All these are extremely dangerous for human life.
This is how our team helps people in managing the disaster in both the situations: the disaster and the precautionary measures for its subsequent management. We also get donations from the local authority and many industrialists for this great work.
The Government of India also maintains a separate fund in the form of ‘Contingency Fund of India’ to manage disasters in India. Disaster not only damages people by destroying things but it also causes emotional trauma to the people. Our team helps people in overcoming emotional weakness and motivates them to face the disaster with greater confidence.
During the disaster, we appeal to the common people to give all kinds of help like physical, emotional and financial to the people. We train common people to provide assistance to their friends, family members and neighbors.
In the event of a disaster, proper preparedness is necessary to control the situation. Effective mechanisms help to completely reduce the effect. Considering the likelihood of certain types of disasters can help reduce the vulnerability of people and society to such an event. Our team assists in rehabilitation and disaster management and helps in minimizing the loss of life and property. This is because we have trained our professionals who not only provide food and water support but also help in emotional rehabilitation of people. Our team also takes effective pre-emptive action to control the disaster situation. We have trained our team on disaster management and thus trained professionals can help in preserving and keeping the environment safe.
Although disaster can trouble you by controlling your emotions and acting wisely, but by being patient, you can reduce those crises. Through this platform, we appeal to everyone to be alert and help each other in the event of any natural calamity or calamity.
Speech on Disaster Management 3
Good morning Honorable Principal Madam, Honorable teachers and my dear friends!
Today we all have gathered here for an important meeting which has been called on a very serious subject. As we know that the place where we live is prone to natural calamities and thus to make the youth aware of such problem it is the duty of the educational institutions to help circulate the information across the place. In the area where we are living there are many natural calamities like flood, earthquake etc. and due to lack of knowledge and awareness among the people there has been huge loss of life and property. No one wants to go through painful situations again and again and thus we should be prepared for such situations and adopt some preventive measures.
Before adopting preventive measures, we must understand the causes of natural calamities. There are many reasons for the increase of natural disasters from time to time and all of them are directly or indirectly related to our lifestyle. The main reason for natural calamities is our behavior to get maximum rest. We want our life to be more comfortable and thus we use excessive electricity, fuel, water etc which gives rise to ecological imbalance on the earth resulting in natural calamities.
I hope everyone knows about the term “deforestation” which means to cut down trees. Fewer trees mean less oxygen and more carbon dioxide on Earth. The excessive presence of carbon dioxide has resulted in depletion of ozone layer, melting of glaciers, rising temperature, increasing respiratory problems which have led to drastic changes in the climatic conditions on earth. The duration of summer is increasing and the duration of winter is decreasing. All these changes directly invite extreme natural calamities like drought, flood, earthquake, tsunami, cyclone, tornado, soil erosion etc.
We have to take some preventive measures to control the situation before it gets out of control. The measures we should take are totally related to our lifestyle. We have to come out of our comfort zone. To compensate for the loss due to deforestation, we have to start keeping trees and plants wherever possible. This will increase oxygen and help reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. We should reduce the use of water and electricity as much as possible. Less wastage of food will be very useful because during drought the scarcity of food is felt very much. Car pooling will help in reducing carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by reducing the use of fuels like petrol, diesel etc. There are many other ways to control ecological imbalance and we have to think about it.
With this, I would like to end my words and would like to give special thanks to the Principal for this honor, who organized this function to prevent disasters or calamities and for all the students to cooperate and make this gathering successful. I hope everyone standing here will remember these things and help spread awareness among other citizens so that this big problem can be faced and eliminated.
Thanks and I wish you a nice day!
Speech on Disaster Management 4
Good morning ladies and gentlemen!
As you know today is a very special day for us as our whole society is going for exciting environment camp. This camp has been specially organized to give an opportunity to people to gain experience of living in nature without technology. As a trainer in this camp, it is my responsibility to tell you about the activities that we all will do in this camp. The reason behind organizing this camp is to make people aware of environmental problems and natural calamities.
We all know about the environmental problems which are due to our selfishness. As the purpose of this camp is one to train people in dealing with natural calamities thus it is very useful for all of us. Natural calamities are increasing rapidly and people need to be aware of the safety measures. Before understanding about the safety measures, we have to understand the causes of natural calamities. There are many reasons behind the occurrence of such disasters – such as wastage of petrol, water and its pollution, excessive use of fuel for excessive use of electricity. We should understand that these disasters are due to the increasing needs of human beings and these needs will lead the earth towards destruction if we do not stop here.
There are many places which are highly affected by natural calamities. One of the biggest tragedies was the Uttarakhand tragedy. The floods in Uttarakhand had devastated the entire place and caused huge loss of food, shelter and life. The flood was a reaction to environmental degradation. There are many cases where major accidents have happened in the past and if the situation is not brought under control then it may happen in future also. Earthquake is the most common disaster among various disasters, followed by floods, droughts etc. Drought is the most dreadful and deadly of all disasters. Drought causes water scarcity and food shortage. The two most important essentials for survival on earth are water and food. Without these two existence is impossible.
To control these tragedies due to natural calamities we have to control our needs in life. Because of our needs we cut trees, because of our needs we use petrol, diesel etc and we have infinite desires or so called needs which give rise to many problems in the environment. Deforestation is one of the main reasons for drought, soil erosion, earthquake etc and to prevent such calamities we have to plant as many trees as possible. The use of excessive fuel like diesel, petrol, fuel has increased the amount of CO2 in the air and hence glaciers are melting due to rise in temperature.
This is the right time when we have to understand our responsibilities towards the earth and move forward to take action against the disasters.
With this, I end my speech and would like to give a special thanks to all the team members and the organizers for all the support and for helping all of you to join and make this camp a success.
Thank you! Good day to you all!
