1. SSB full form – Services Selection Board

 Educational and Physical Qualification for SSB

Candidate Selection Process in SSB

(2). SSB FULL FORM – SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL

Another full form of SSB is “SASHASTRA SEEMA BAL” (Sashastra Seema Bal). It is a border guarding force of India which is mainly deployed along its border with the country of Nepal and Bhutan.

Firstly, this force was originally established in 1963 under the name of “special service bureau” to strengthen the border areas of India after the Indo-China war.

Eligibility for SSB

(1) Age Limit:

The age limit of the candidate for recruitment in SSB has been kept from 17 years to 25 years.

(2) Educational Qualification:

( A ) Must have Intermediate (10+2) from a recognized Board/Institute.
(b) Typing speed should be 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute.

(3) Physical Standards:

(A) Height: should be 167.5 cm.

(B) Chest: Without expansion: Should be 80 cm. Extended: Minimum expansion 5 cms.

(C) Weight: Height and age are in proportion to the medical standards.

4. Age Relaxation:

Various exemptions are also given to different castes or categories. Let us know about them-
(A) Age relaxation is given up to 5 years for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and up to 3 years for OBC.

(B) Upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for those candidates who are already in Government service. But there is also a rule in this that it will be admissible only if an employee has rendered at least 3 years of continuous service under government service.

(C) Every ex-serviceman who has rendered not less than 6 months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union is permitted to deduct the period of such service from his actual age. And if the resultant age does not exceed the prescribed age limit i.e. 25 years then by more than 3 years he is considered to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.

(5) Candidates are given relaxation in height and chest as follows-
Height: Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gorkha, Dogra, Maratha and Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Leh, Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir is 165 cm. The minimum height for all ST candidates is 162.5.

Chest: Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Garhwali, Kumaoni, Gorkha, Dogra, Maratha and Ladakh region of Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Kashmir, Leh, Jammu and Kashmir with minimum 5 cm expansion With 78 cm. For all ST candidates the minimum is 76 Cm with 5 Cm extension.
